What is child dedication?
Child dedication isn't a magic ceremony and it doesn't guarantee your child's salvation — that's a decision they'll have to make for themselves one day. What it is, is a public promise. In front of your church family, you commit to raising your child to know Jesus, and we commit to standing with you and helping you do it.
Three reasons why:
- To publicly dedicate our children to God and entrust their lives to Him.
- To commit, as parents, to raise our children in the ways of Jesus.
- To ask our church family to help carry that responsibility with us.
What does the Bible say about it?
Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord before he was even born, and she kept that promise. We believe in that same spirit — recognizing that our children belong to God first, and we're simply stewards of the life He's given us to raise.
"For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the Lord." 1 Samuel 1:27-28
Who can participate?
Child dedication is open to any family in our church community, whether you've been here for years or you're just getting settled in. There's no age requirement for your child — we dedicate babies, toddlers, and young kids alike. The only thing we ask is that at least one parent or guardian be present and ready to make this commitment.
What happens during the dedication?
Dedications happen during our worship service. We'll invite your family up front, a pastor will pray over your child and your family, and we'll ask you to affirm your commitment to raise your child in the faith. It's simple, it's meaningful, and it's over before your kids get restless.
What can I expect the day of?
- Arrive early and check in with us before the service starts.
- Bring the whole family — grandparents and family members are welcome to stand with you.
- Feel free to have someone take pictures or video and they are welcome to come right down front to get a good view.
